Mirage
...and what do you do when the help that was promised, that was on the horizon, turns out to be a mirage after all?
You accept that you're alone in this situation. No one's coming to save you. You tell the screaming, terrified, hurting child in you to sit down and shut up...and you toughen up and put your man-pants on.
You stop hiding, and you let go and move on. This is how life is now; deal with it.
Survey the wreckage and embrace it, yes, but start picking up the pieces and rebuilding - better, this time.
Always look cool.
Always know what you're doing.
If you don't know what you're doing, look cool.
Make sure you keep eating and drinking to stay alive, even if you have to go through hell to do so.
And one day, the Rescuer will return for you.
You may feel like you're alone. You may have no human help, no one to talk to or give you aid. But He has not abandoned you, and He will not.
O Lord, make haste to help me!
Let them be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
who delight in my hurt!
Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, “Aha, Aha!”
May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, “God is great!”
But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!
Psalm 70 (ESV)
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 (ESV)
